NAUGATUCK — John Bailey McKee, 74, died peacefully at his home on Nov. 24, 2012. John was born on Oct. 5, 1938 in Waterbury a son of the late John A. and Ernestine (Bailey) McKee.

Bailey, as he was known to his family, was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and worked for Bristol Babcock for over 40 years. As a young child he was stricken with polio, which left him with physical challenges. Despite this, he enjoyed playing golf for many years until it became too difficult to move around the course.

Bailey first developed an interest in history in his childhood through his hobby of rock collecting and later through clocks and furniture. That eventually led him to the Naugatuck Historical Society of which he was a proud member.

Bailey leaves behind his sister, Linda McKee Wohlgemuth and her husband Fred of West Hartford, his 3 nieces and their families.

John’s family would like to thank the Naugatuck police and EMTs for their quick and caring response, both showed impressive professionalism and consideration to the family.

Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial gifts can be made to: Naugatuck Historical Society, 195 Water St., Naugatuck, CT 06770.
