John Andrew Kovach Sr.

BEACON FALLS — John Andrew Kovach, Sr., 75, of Beacon Falls, the beloved husband of 41 years to Beverly Criegmuss Kovach, entered into eternal rest on Saturday March 5, at Waterbury Hospital.  He was born in Kingston, Pa. on May 19, 1935 son of the late Michael and Anna Benny Kovach.

John served with the U.S. Marine Corps as a military policeman during the Korean Conflict.  He was most recently a greeter at Walmart of Naugatuck and previously had retired in 1996 as a machine operator with Sikorsky Aircraft of Stratford and had also formerly worked at American Chain and Cable of Shelton.

John has been a resident of Beacon Falls for the last 34 years, moving there from Bridgeport.  He enjoyed woodworking, making children’s wooden sleds, building a Pinewood Derby car with his grandson Andrew and a crib for his granddaughter Kaitlin that was shared by his grandsons Andrew and Nathan.

John will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. His loving family, in addition to his beloved wife Beverly, includes his caring sons, John A. Kovach, Jr. of Beacon Falls, Edward M. Seay and his wife Krista of Wallingford and Gary M. Seay and his wife Abby of Beacon Falls, his loving daughters Marianne Kneitel and her husband Dave of Paramus, N.J., Linda McGee of Tampa, Fla., Karla Kovach of Huntington Station, N.Y. and Dawn Stokes of Thomaston, his devoted brother Robert Kovach of Oxford, his beloved sisters Teresa Cunningham of Bridgeport, Anna Card of West Haven and Dorothy Cavalier of Trumbull, his cherished grandchildren Keri McGee, Ryann McGee, Kaitlin Stokes, Nathan Stokes, Kenneth Kneitel, Andrew Seay, Sarah Seay, William Seay, Nicholas Seay and  Matthew Seay.  John was predeceased by his beloved brothers Michael and Stephen Kovach and his two cherished sisters Mary Halapin and Veronica Firer.

A funeral service in celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday March 11, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 260 Bank St., (Route 67, opposite Klarides Village) Seymour, with the Rev. Gregory Dawson, pastor of the Seymour Congregational Church, officiating.  Following the service, full military honors will be accorded.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Friends and relatives may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday March 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
