NAUGATUCK — John A. Zdanoski, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was husband of Barbara (Hatt) Lahey Zdanoski.

Mr. Zdanoski was born on May 13, 1926 in Scranton, Pa., son of the late John L. and Otelia (Oldakowski) Zdanoski. He was a butcher for Mohican Market in Waterbury before opening his own business, “Jack’s Reliable Meat Market” on Division Street. He also worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a communicant of Saint Lucy’s Church and later the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church in Waterbury, where he served as an usher for many years.

Besides his wife of 15 years, he leaves three daughters, Laurie A. Jones and Gary of Florida, Julie E. Zdanoski and Sam of Maryland, and Lynnea Lahey and Joseph of Meriden; two sisters, Florence Vitcavage and Regina Skutnik, both of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Richard Delrusso, David, Alyssa and Ariana Taylor; a great-grandson, Brennan DelRusso; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center and the Hope Team for the exceptional care given to John during his illness.

His funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., Waterbury for a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
