Obituary: Jerry R. Russell

TORRINGTON — Mr. Jerry R. Russell, 65 of Torrington, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.

Jerry was born in Derby, May 7, 1946, a son of the late Frank and Ruby (Norton) Russell, and was educated in the Beacon Falls school system. He was a resident of Torrington for the past 15 years having formerly lived in Waterbury. He was formerly employed by the Homer D. Bronson Co. formerly of Beacon Falls and later worked for the Risdon Mfg. Co. retiring from its successor, Rexam Products, Inc. in 2009. Jerry was an avid bowler with the Merchants league in Torrington and enjoyed both duckpin and tenpin bowling.

He is survived by a daughter, Maryann Janelle of Torrington; four brothers, Frank Russell and his wife Beverly of Beacon Falls, Henry Russell of Ansonia, Charles Russell and his wife Carol of Beacon Falls, and James Russell and his wife Margaret of Naugatuck; three sisters, Sarah Santoro and her husband Ralph of Romney, N.H., Joyce Violano and her husband Robert of Beacon Falls, and Rita Russell of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Robert, and Joseph Russell and a sister, Ruby Russell.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. in Pines Bridge Cemetery, Beacon Falls. There are no calling hours. Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is handling arrangements.
