NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Jean L. (Paszel) Genovese, 97, of 53 Conrad St., passed away on Wednesday, April 27 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the widow of James V. Genovese.
Jean was born in Blansburg, Pa. on April 17, 1914, daughter of Peter and Emelia (Luckza) Paszel. She was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck, and she had retired from the Footwear Division of Uniroyal after more than 40 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Rosary Society. Mrs. Genovese was an honorary member of Veterans Who Care, and a member of the Naugatuck Friendship Club and VFW Post 1946 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children: Robert L. Genovese and his wife Rosemarie of Naugatuck, John V. Genovese of Wallingford, Veronica Erickson-Summo of Waterbury, James V. Genovese Jr. and his wife Alberta of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her sister Genevieve Kelly of Leominster, Mass., seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter Carol Ann Genovese.
Her funeral will be held on Monday May 2, at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Naugatuck for a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
