Obituary: James T. Nardello

NAUGATUCK– Mr. James T. Nardello, 84, of Laurel Ave. passed away on Tuesday Feb. 22 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the widower of Marie A. (Spadola) Nardello.

Mr. Nardello was born in Naugatuck on May 11, 1926, a son of the late James and Jennie (DeCarlo) Nardello. He was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and served on the Naugatuck Board of Education for nine years. He was a retiree of US Rubber footwear division where he worked for 30 years and served as union president of the United Rubber Workers Local #45. He was a veteran serving in the Marines during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a former member of the Christopher Columbo Society, the VFW, and the Marine Corp. League. He was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church and one of its founding members.

He leaves four sons, James, Nicholas, and David Nardello and his wife Debra Kay all of Naugatuck, Michael Nardello and his wife Christine of Canton; two sisters, Antoinette Talevi of Cheshire, Jane Curina and her husband Bob of Naugatuck; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Natalie, and Rachel Nardello all of Canton; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Helena “Sis” Masone, Adelle Scholan, and Evelyn Wolcin.

His funeral will be held on Friday Feb. 25 at 9:15 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, for a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday Feb. 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Members of the Naugatuck Veteran’s Council will meet at the funeral home at 7:15 p.m.
