WATERBURY — Irene (Scepkowski) Krajewski, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at the Village Green Health Care Center after a short illness. She was widow of Raymond S. Krajewski.

Mrs. Krajewski was born in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late Julius and Stella Scepkowski. She was a longtime Waterbury resident. She was known as the “lunch lady,” retiring after 30 years of service at Chase School in Waterbury. Irene enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to the casino, and playing bingo. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Church and she was a devout catholic. She was also an avid Boston Red sox fan.

She leaves her three sons, Raymond Krajewski and his wife Lorraine of Bethlehem, Steven Krajewski of Wolcott, and Andrew Krajewski of Waterbury; her daughter, Susan and her husband Peter of Wolcott; her sister, Dorothy Labecki of West Islip, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Michele Gaffney and Lisa Hanos; her three great-grandchildren, Caraline, Adrienne and Avery, and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Drive, Waterbury, for a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, East Main Street, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
