PROSPECT — Mrs. Irene F. (Broff) Lusas, 86, of Prospect passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of John P. Lusas.
Mrs. Lusas was born in New Britain on April 22, 1926 daughter of the late Stanley and Stella (Martin) Broff. She was retired from Uniroyal Inc. Footwear Division in Naugatuck and was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. She was a member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 40 years and a member of the Uniroyal Supervisors Club. Irene was a truly loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a dear friend to many. Her warm smile and caring ways will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Lusas is survived by two sons, Alan J. Lusas and his wife Annette of Prospect and Brian E. Lusas and his wife Pamela of Bristol; four grandchildren, Nicholas Lusas and his wife Shellie, Mitchell Lusas and his wife Anastasia, Dr. Diane Lusas and Stephanie Lusas; two great-granddaughters, Lelija and Natalya and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving companion, her beloved dog Angel.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Nance Lusas.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect.
