Obituary: Henry Werling

Obit-CandleOAKVILLE — Mr. Henry Werling, 83, of Oakville, died unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Hannelore (Nees) Werling.

Mr. Werling was born in Hosbach, Germany on June 26, 1930 son of the late Emil and Josefine (Heeg) Werling. He was retired from Safeguard Manufacturing in Woodbury after working for many years as a mechanical engineer and also formerly worked at Pioneer Volkswagen in Watertown. He enjoyed German dancing, cutting wood and was a true handyman, who enjoyed helping others with projects. He was an avid soccer fan and in his younger years enjoyed playing soccer for 40 years, skiing and wrestling. He was a member of the Bristol German Club.

Besides his wife, Mr. Werling is survived by two daughters, Loretta Werling Martineau and her husband Rick of New Mexico and Doreen Werling of Waterbury; a son, William Werling and his wife Rhonda of Bethlehem; two sisters, Paula Kroth of Germany and Resi Zimmerman of Germany; three grandchildren, Wesley Canada, Gordon Canada and Dena Werling and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
