NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Helen (Toth) Kirk, 93, passed away Wednesday morning May 1, 2013 at Glendale Heath Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Donald C. Kirk Sr., who passed away in 2009 after 69 years of marriage.

Mrs. Kirk was born in Naugatuck, June 28, 1919, daughter of the late John and Emma (Margitich) Toth and was a lifelong borough resident where she was educated in local schools. She retired from the former Peter Paul Cadbury after 25 years of service.

Helen was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church volunteering at Lenten bakeries; the Village Green Fair Peach shortcake booth; the Episcopal Church Women as well as serving as a weekly greeter.

Mr. and Mrs. Kirk belonged to the Jeff Club. She was a member of the Evergreen Chapter No. 22, Order of the Eastern Star and had been affiliated with Goodwill Chapter No. 112, O.E.S., being a 52 year member.

She was a former board member of the Naugatuck Chapter of the American Red Cross and volunteered for many years at the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank. She was a member of the AARP Chapter 495 at the Naugatuck Senior Center and the Senior Women’s Friendship Club.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Beverly Krayeski (Joseph) and Joyce Alegi (Dominic) all of Naugatuck; sons, Donald C. Kirk, Jr. (Dariel) of Richboro, Pa., and Ross J. Kirk of Waterbury; six granddaughters, Debra Olesen (Erik) of Greenwich, Susan Culotta (Mark) of Southington, Melinda McKenna (Mark) of Watertown, attorney Doreen Alegi (Joseph Pieksza) of Watertown, Stacy Kirk, Peace Corp. in Costa Rico and Amy Weisenberg (Eric) of Downingtown, Pa.; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jillian Olesen, Ethan and Eli Culotta, Madilyn and Allison McKenna and Julia and Alexis Weisenberg and Joseph Pieksza; her sister-in-law Ruth (Franklin) Kirk; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Urban and Rose Frageau.

The Kirk family would like to give a special thanks to the entire staff at the Glendale Center, especially the nurses and CNAs of Rosebud Wing; Drs. Dennis Huebner and Robert Matusz; VITAS Innovative Hospice Care for the care given to Helen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 12:15 p.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., and proceed to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 210 Church St., for services at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave., on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
