NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Helen (Laban) Staskiewicz, 91, of Naugatuck, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Shady Knoll Health Center. She was the widow of Walter P. Staskiewicz, a former burgess of Naugatuck.

Mrs. Staskiewicz was born in Ansonia on Oct. 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Joseph and Edwiga (Burack) Laban. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident and proudly worked for the borough as head clerk, secretary, and accountant for the Naugatuck Housing Authority, retiring with over 30 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading, playing bingo, and going to the beach, but most of all she loved her family. She was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church.

She leaves her two beloved daughters, Renie and her husband Pat Mallane of Naugatuck, Mary Helen Makoski of Trumbull and Milford; three loving grandchildren, Milton Makoski and his wife Coleen of Southington, Marek Makoski of New Hampshire, and Manya Makoski of Trumbull and Milford; several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9:15 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Naugatuck, for a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 p.m. to 7pm.
