ORANGE — Helen Francis (Lasky) Melchiore, 86, widow of Salvatore J. Melchiore Sr., passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Born in Waterbury on Nov. 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John and Adele (Gabris) Lasky. She lived in Orange since 1968, and had worked for the town accounting department until her retirement in 2004. When Helen wasn’t travelling, she could be found enjoying classic films and Elvis Presley music. She was a recognized expert in 1950s movie trivia and watched golf whenever she could. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen leaves her loving children, Marla Polites, Salvatore J. Melchiore Jr. and his wife, Kersti, and John Melchiore; her grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary Melchiore, Mason and Maverick Melchiore, Taryn Donnarummo and her husband, Stephen, Arielle Polites and her husband, James Neurath, and Britney Polites Gordon and her husband, Sean Gordon; her great-grandchildren, Eliana and Gabriella Donnarummo; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, followed by a memorial and burial at St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.
