NAUGATUCK — Helen Evon passed away on June 14, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a short illness. She leaves her devoted husband of 65 years Robert W. Evon, Sr.

Helen was born in Franklin, N.J., May 1, 1924 the daughter of the late Steven Lott and Ann Simon Lott Yezik. She was a longtime resident of Naugatuck. She worked during WWII at Farrells’s in Ansonia and Hershey Metal. She retired after 32 years from the Naugatuck Uniroyal Footwear plant. She was an avid reader; and with her husband enjoyed traveling, Duck Pin Bowling, Square and Ballroom dancing and was active in the former AARP chapter 495. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Naugatuck.

Besides her husband she leaves a son Robert W. Evon, Jr. and wife Suzanne of New Ipswich, N.H.; a daughter Linda Evon Harris and husband Ray, III of Pomfret; grandchildren, Robert W. Evon, III and wife Lesley, Jessica Evon, Tamara Harris, Tonya St. Marie and husband Kurt, Trisha Harris, Ray Harris, IV and wife Stephanie; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Alexandra Scaperotta and Ann O’Connell; brother Andrew Yezik, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 3 to 5 p.m.
