Obituary: Gerlanda Jean Amico

NAUGATUCK — Gerlanda Jean Amico, 93, passed away at Cheshire House on April 19, 2020.

She was born in Enfield on Aug. 12, 1926, daughter of the late Luigi and Maria (Montagna) Amico. She graduated from Naugatuck High School and Post Business College. Jean retired from the Footwear Division of Uniroyal after working in managements for 36 years, and was a member of the Uniroyal Girls Club during that time. She was a member of the AARP, Evergreen Club 50, and the Naugatuck Senior Center, where she played Bingo with her friends on Friday. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, where she belonged to the Altar Society. Jean loved musicals, mysteries, reading, traveling and growing flowers.

Jean is survived by her cousins, Salvatore Montagna and his wife, Suzanne, and their son, Anthony Montagna, all of New Jersey; Edward Montagna and his wife, Linda, and their children, Daniel, Lilly and Jodi, all of Massachusetts; John Montagna and his sons, Michael and Christopher, and Meredeth and Robert Bishop Jr. and family, and son, Douglas Carter and his wife, Kait. She was predeceased by her cousin, Josephine Gibino.

All services will be private and internment will take place in St. James Cemetery. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.
