NAUGATUCK — Mr. Franklin B. Andrew, 102, of Naugatuck, passed away Thursday June 27, 2013, at his home, on the land he loved, on Andrew Mountain. He was the husband of the late Rita (Barthomew) Andrew, who passed away in 1998.

He was born in Naugatuck, June 26, 1911, the last surviving and youngest of 13 children of the late George Wiley Andrew and Mary Abigail (Gillette) Andrew. He was born in the family summer home on Andrew Mountain and passed away in his log cabin home, 100 feet from where he was born.

He was a retired employee of the Lewis Eng. Co. where he served as shipping and receiving forman retiring at the age of 59 years old. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed painting, gardening, and woodworking. His motto for longevity was “Think young.” He was a life member of the Naugatuck Lodge # 967 Benevolent and Protective Oder of Elks, presently their oldest living member.

He leaves his children; Judith A. Mahan of Cheshire, Russell B Andrew and his wife, Linda, Marjorie A. Pierce and her husband Richard, and Franklin B. “Tim” Andrew, Jr. and his wife Joan, all of Naugatuck, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours.
