NAUGATUCK — Frank Amador Rodrigues, 62, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at Glendale Healthcare Center. He was the husband of Suzanne (Elam) Rodrigues.
Frank was born April 19, 1951 in Waterbury, the son of Francisco “Frank” and Felismina (Amador) Rodrigues. He was a lifetime Naugatuck resident where he was active with the Boy Scouts of America. He served as scoutmaster of Troop 102 in Naugatuck for 37 years assisting 80 young men obtain the Eagle Scout rank. Over the years Frank had taken the troop on trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Florida National High Adventure Sea Base in the Florida Keys, Gettysburg, Va. as well as Allagash Canoe Trips in Maine. Frank was recognized various times throughout his scouting career receiving the Scoutmasters Key Award; the District Award of Merit; the Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor and the Silver Beaver Award. In 1999 Frank as well as his Troop 102 leaders received the Raymond K. Foley Award for their outstanding service and unselfish dedication, contributing to the betterment of Naugatuck children. In 2002 Frank was named Citizen of the Year by the Naugatuck Exchange Club.
Besides his parents of Naugatuck and his wife of 35 years, Frank is survived by his sons LTjg Frank Robert Rodrigues, USN of Norfolk, Va., SSG Alden J. Rodrigues, USA of Ft. Benning, Ga., and Peter Christian Rodrigues of Naugatuck; his brothers Daniel Rodrigues of Chesterfield, Mo. and Capt. Alberto Rodrigues, OCFLSD of Orlando; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, 8:45 p.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., to St. Francis of Assisi Church for mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
