NAUGATUCK — Evelyn R. (Dominczak) Nickle, 88, of Naugatuck, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of Carl T. Nickle.
Mrs. Nickle was born in Waterbury on Aug. 11, 1924, a daughter of the late Vincent and Natalie (Swiderski) Dominczak. She was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and a retired sales clerk from Talevi Furniture Store. She also worked at Freedman’s Department Store and also operated Donovan’s Pharmacy with her husband. She was a member of the Naugatuck Emblem Club and a lifelong communicant of St. Hedwig Church. She enjoyed shopping, gardening and travelling.
Besides her husband of 51 years, she leaves her daughter, Maura C. Nickle of Naugatuck; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence “Lefty” Dominczak and her sister, Irene Zwyno.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Hedwig Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck has been entrusted with her arrangements.
