NAUGATUCK — Emo J. Gabani, 87, passed away at his home on Friday, March 15, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Caulfield) Gabani.

Emo was born in Naugatuck on July 11, 1925, and was the son of the late Pietro and Angelina (Urbinati) Gabani. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy. Emo worked in the warehouse for the Uniroyal Rubber Co. until his retirement. He was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman and a communicant of St. Francis Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Demers and her husband, Joseph, of Naugatuck and Donna Dietz and her husband, Dirk, also of Naugatuck; one son, James Gabani and his wife, Elaine, of Naugatuck; one sister, Valva Drapko of Naugatuck; and one brother, Meilo Gabani of Waterbury. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Prosper Senator for all of the care he gave.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 9 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, to St. Francis of Assisi Church for a mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
