Elizabeth Ann (Sigetti) Jonaitis

BRISTOL — Elizabeth Ann (Sigetti) Jonaitis, 80, passed away peacefully July 23, 2012, at Bristol Hospital.

She was born on May 5, 1932, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late John and Mary Sigetti of Naugatuck. In her younger years, Elizabeth worked as a secretary at the UConn Waterbury campus. She then devoted her time to raising her children before becoming a longtime employee of the Wolcott Board of Education. She made many friends along the way before retiring in the mid 1990’s. She lived in Wolcott for 49 years, relocating to Bristol in 1999.

Elizabeth was a warm, fun loving woman who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was an avid cook, making traditional ethnic recipes to share with all who came to visit. She had an open-door policy and everyone was always welcome in her home. In later years, she took enjoyment in reading, music and relaxing on her front porch and back yard deck just enjoying life.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, John A. Jonaitis, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Tera; grandchildren, Christopher and Julia, all of Colorado; her daughter, Lisa M. Jonaitis of Bristo; her sister, Rose Gallo of Naugatuck, and many very special nieces and nephews as well as treasured friends. She also leaves behind her faithful four-legged companions Delilah, Liliana and Spooky.

She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Lawrence, Charles, George and Michael Sigetti a sister, Mary Fredricks and her ex-husband John Jonaitis.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

In celebration of Elizabeth’s life, all those in attendance are encouraged to wear bright, cheerful colors.
