Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Both) Stotz

WATERBURY — Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” (Both) Stotz, 72, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 9, at her home. She was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Ralph L. “Bud” Stotz.

Mrs. Stotz was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Feb. 2, 1939 daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (Szabados) Both. She was raised in Philadelphia where she was a graduate of the Little Flower High School and graduated from Nazareth Hospital as a medical technologist. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury for many years and retired from the Digestive Center of Connecticut. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Church in Waterbury.

Betty loved gardening, sewing, and arts and crafts. She loved to shop, shop, and shop. Her most favorite place was New York City. She treasured all of her traveling trips with her husband. She was very proud of her Hungarian heritage and food. She loved baking and sharing her Hungarian cookies at Christmas. She was a kind and caring woman who enjoyed helping others. Her favorite and well known saying was “What can I do to help.” She volunteered at the Palace Theatre and treasured the many friends that she made there.

Betty was a loving and caring mother to her daughter Elizabeth Perugini and her husband David of Naugatuck and a wonderful grandmother to Jamie Perugini.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69 Prospect on Thursday Oct.13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
