NAUGATUCK — Elaine P. (Kozich) Harris, 70, of New Haven Road, Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22 at her home.
Elaine was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on July 12, 1940, a daughter of the late John Kozich and Anna (Urena) Paciga. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident and U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran.
Elaine was a kind, gentle spirit and devoted mother. She actively supported local charities and was a strong advocate for the rights and dignity of individuals. Elaine loved animals, attending town events and church dinners and never passed up a good yard sale. She had a zestful curiosity for life and often surprised with interests such as space aeronautics. Elaine was happiest in her home—playing computer games, watching old movie classics, and gardening.
She leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Susan Harris of Wolcott, and Linda Harris of Mahwah, N.J.; her two sisters, Anna Mae Sunbury of Austin, Texas, and Claire Bellamare of Naugatuck.
Her memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at the Naugatuck
Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
The Harris family extends their gratitude to VITAS Hospice for their compassionate care and service. Memorial donations may be sent on behalf of Elaine Harris to VITAS Hospice Charitable Fund, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Suite C, Middlebury, CT 06762.
