Edward Garrett

NAUGATUCK — Edward Garrett, 85, husband of the late Marjorie (Wooster) Garrett, passed away peacefully at Beacon Brook Health Center on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, after a prolonged illness. Edward was born in Cranks, Harlan County, Ky., on Feb. 3, 1935, one of ten children of the late Dorsey Garrett and the late Eula (Stapleton) Garrett.

He attended school in Cranks, Ky., and retired from Pratt and Whitney Company in North Haven after 36 years.

He is survived by four children, Carrie Rivard and her husband, Shane, of Naugatuck, Roger Garrett and his wife, Debbie, of Naugatuck, Paul “Andy” Garrett and his wife, Jeanne, of Plantsville, and Todd Garrett and his partner, Nichole Milia, of Naugatuck; his two brothers, Pete Garrett of Summerfield, Fla., and James Garrett of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; his 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Michael Garrett; three brothers, Clabe, Edward Washington, and Dorsey Jr. Garrett; and four sisters, Geneva Howard, Lottie Gross, Barbara Gilley and Marlene Howell.

Edward was a devoted husband, father and “Pa” to his grandchildren, as well as a loving “Uncle Dobbin” to his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 350 Millville Ave., in Naugatuck. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, East Waterbury Road, Naugatuck, at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours, and the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck is entrusted with the arrangements.
