NAUGATUCK — Edward F. White, 93, died after a brief illness. He was the husband and widow of Martha (Hill) White.

Ed was born on Nov. 20, 1920 in Naugatuck a son of the late Alfred White and Mary (Conroy) White. He was retired from the State of Connecticut Education System where he was department head of the graphic Communications Department at Bullard Havens High School for many years. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in combat in the pacific. He was a Past Faithful Navigator 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, Ojeda Council Naugatuck as well as a member of the Naugatuck chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Naugatuck VFW. Ed served St Francis Church for over 30 years in various capacities and most proudly as a Eucharistic minister.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan White of Naugatuck; three sons, Dennis White and his wife Laurie of Bantam, Philip White and his wife Fran of Prospect and Ronald White and his wife Gail of Watertown. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren, Jason White, Josh White, Kelly Shilling, Kaitlyn White, and David White as well as six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife Martha he was predeceased by one grandson, Michael White and his two sisters, Martha Bradshaw and Gerry Miller.

The family would like to give special thanks to Where the Heart Is and to Jackie Paradise for her dedication and care to our dad.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will be at St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect on Friday, Nov. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. The Naugatuck Veterans Council will be performing their services at 6:45 p.m.
