Obit-CandleBEACON FALLS — Mr. Edmund A. Mis, 89, of Beacon Falls, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at VITAS Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Ann (Walsh) Mis.

Mr. Mis was born in Beacon Falls on Oct. 2, 1923, a son of the late John and Anna (Niemczyk) Mis. He was a lifelong Beacon Falls resident and earned his master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II and a member of the Catholic War Veterans, St. Michael’s Post 1562 in Derby as well as the American Legion. He retired from the State of Connecticut as business manager at E.C. Goodwin Technical School.

Besides his wife of 59 years, he leaves his son James Mis and his wife Mary of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; his daughter, Carolyn Duhaime and her husband Peter of Derby; a brother, Frank Mis of Beacon Falls; two grandsons, John and Daniel Mis; a great-granddaughter, Mikayla Mis; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Thaddeus Mis.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 8:15 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck to St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Ave, Beacon Falls for a mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
