NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Dorothyann “Dottie” (Raymond) Phillips, 84, of Naugatuck, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at the Waterbury Hospital.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Manhattan, N.Y., a daughter of the late Sheldon and Lillian (Selber) Raymond and was educated in the New York school system. She retired in 1990 from Robinson’s Luncheonette in Naugatuck with over 40 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and was a former member of the choir.

Dorothy was a member and past president of the Naugatuck Aerie #640, Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, have been elected “Mother of the Year” in 1995. She had also served as state president of the ladies auxiliary. She was also a past president of the Naugatuck Emblem Club #160 and enjoyed traveling to both the state and national conventions of both organizations. She was quite active with the Kollege Kapers musicals over the years, and was a member of the Naugatuck Red Hatters, and had been active at the Naugatuck Senior Center, organizing trips for seniors, assisting with cooking, and calling Bingo. She was a former volunteer with the Naugatuck Civil Defense, having been certified as a shelter manager, and had served on the Auxiliary Police force. She enjoyed her pets, especially her cat Bonkers. Her hobbies included Traveling, Bingo and the “WWF.”

She leaves nine children, T.J. Cleveland of Staten Island, N.Y., Alison Neufeld of Ocala, Fla., Linda Meikle of Colorado, Sandy Zike of Tampa, Fla., William Bowden of Waterbury, Richard Bowden of Naugatuck, Cynthia Corker of Naugatuck, Thomas Harrison of Thomaston, and Pamela Lowell of Coral Springs, Fla.; one sister, Edna Segwaldski of Staten Island, N.Y.; 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Helen.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck and proceed to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church for services at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., on Tuesday Aug. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.
