NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Doris M. (LaFontaine) Maroney, 84, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2013 at her home. She married John G. Maroney on Sept. 22, 1951, sharing 61 years together.

Doris was born Oct. 30, 1928 in Woonsocket, R.I., moving to Naugatuck when she was a child. She was the daughter of the late Gaston and Blandine (Dupont) LaFontaine. In addition to raising her seven children, Doris was employed by the Uniroyal Inc. Footwear Division, Peter Paul, Risdon, Timex and retired from Bendix. After retirement, Doris and John traveled and spent many Winters in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She will be missed by her children, Linda (Flint) of Bethel, Sharon (David) of Bluegrass, Iowa, Gale of Candler, N.C., Jim (Hye Chong) of Poulsbo, Wash., Patti (Rob) of Marlborough, Judy Dingle (Fran) of Naugatuck, and Kerri Hayden (Kevin) of Naugatuck. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Jesse Maroney, Joyce and Shannon Maroney, Kyle and Sean Gnocchi, Amanda and Jake Dingle and Kate and Kelly Hayden. Doris is survived by her brother, Roger McNamara of Waterbury and many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Norman and Fernand.

The family would like to thank all those who cared for Doris, especially her loving best friend Lisa Chandler, for their kindness and compassion.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect, is in charge of arrangements.
