Donatila (Brandao) DaSilva

NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Donatila (Brandao) DaSilva, 84, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at Middlebury Convalescent Home surrounded by her family. She was wife of the late Jacinto “Jesse” DaSilva.

She was born in Belem, Brazil on July 30, 1928, daughter of the late Manoel and Saturina (Fernandes) Brandao. Mrs. DaSilva was a longtime resident of Naugatuck and she was formerly employed by Naugatuck Glass Company for 20 years. She enjoyed her family and gardening.

She leaves two sons, Rui DaSilva and his wife Linda of Watertown and Rubens DaSilva and his wife Christina of Naugatuck; a daughter Rosa DaSilva Brown of Florida; a sister Luzia Telles of Brazil; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DaSilva was predeceased by her son-in-law Edward J. Brown.

The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at St. Mary’s Hospital, Middlebury Convalescent Home, and her many friends at Robert E. Hutt Housing in Naugatuck.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial will be private. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
