NAUGATUCK — Mr. David A. Koonitsky Sr., 67, of Naugatuck, died unexpectedly on July 1, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Koonitsky was born in Waterbury on Aug. 3, 1944, a son of the late Anthony and Olga (Antonchuck) Koonitsky. He was retired as a meat cutter, having worked at Everybody’s Market and the Southbury Food Center for many years. He was a member of the Polish American Club of Naugatuck, was an avid New York Yankees fan, enjoyed fishing and loved his little dog, Frankie.
Mr. Koonitsky proudly served his country, having served in the National Guard for six years.
Mr. Koonitsky is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Brodeur and her husband Rick of Naugatuck; a son, David A. Koonitsky Jr. and his wife Melanie of Stratford; a brother, Dennis Koonitsky of Charleston, R.I.; six grandchildren, Katelyn Brodeur, Kelly Brodeur, Julianna Koonitsky, Nicholas Koonitsky, Jenna Koonitsky and Grace Koonitsky; his former wife, Barbara (Whay) Koonitsky of Naugatuck; a niece, Danielle Accetura; a nephew, Eric Koonitsky.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in Naugatuck at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
