NAUGATUCK — Daniel J. Renzoni, Sr., 82, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at Beacon Brook Health Care Center after a long illness. He was husband of the late Evelyn A. (Bea) Renzoni.

Mr. Renzoni was born in Waterbury on Feb. 2, 1931, son of the late Valentino and Gina (Allesandrini) Renzoni. A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, he retired as deputy chief with the Naugatuck Fire Department after 27 years of service. He had also owned Renzoni Pizza in Naugatuck.

Dan was a member of the Cristoforo Columbo Society, the Naugatuck Valley Motorcycle Club, and New Haven County Chiefs, and the Waterbury Area Fire Chiefs Association. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Dan truly loved life, his family and his friends.

Mr. Renzoni is survived by, his son Daniel J. Renzoni, Jr. of Naugatuck; his daughters Deborah A. Diver of Naugatuck, Danielle R. Lieder and her husband Richard of Seymour, and Denise Wilkins and her husband David of Naugatuck; his sister, Diana Miner of Sebastian, Fla.; his seven grandchildren, Chris, Jeff and Adam Lieder, Danielle Diver, Jonathon and Daniel Wilkins, and Daniel Renzoni, III; his two great-grandchildren, Ariel Diver-Pierre, Olivia Lieder; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Nello Renzoni; his sister, Valentina Ober; and his grandson, Dustin Diver.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Please meet directly at the church at 9:45 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
