GLENDALE, Ariz. — Corienne E. (Parker) Traver, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at the home of her daughter and son in law in Glendale, Ariz. She was the widow of the late Claude Traver who passed away in 1991.
Mrs. Traver was born in Waterbury, the only child of L. Rhett and Phoebe (LaDue) Parker. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School Class of 1942, and was employed by Uniroyal Footwear Div. for 23 years, retiring in 1979. She and her late husband were Naugatuck residents until 1989 when they moved to Venice, Fla. Together they raised their three daughters, were foster parents to eight children, and shared in the hobby of raising, showing and judging Budgerigars. She enjoyed auto trips with her husband, and later with her daughters and their families — an excellent co-pilot, always up for an adventure and most proud of having been in all 48 contiguous states. Favorite past times were varied and many: reading, crocheting, dancing, bowling, record keeping and photo albums that chronicled her life and those she loved. She loved nature, animals, full moons, gardenias, autumn leaves, snowfall, college basketball, the colors red and green, and an afternoon nap. Most of all she loved her family deeply.
She leaves her daughters and sons-in-law, Claire and Gregg Snyder of Dunnellon, Fla., Cheryl and Dick Langevin of Bellingham, Mass., and Corinne and Jim Galati of Glendale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Scott, Shelby, Stacey, Brad, Trisha and Noelle; nine great-grandchildren with a tenth due in June; very special cousins, Fred Slater, Dick Moore and Eric Ashton; best lifelong friend Lucille “Tootsie” Calo; nephews, Floyd and Claude Traver, and numerous cousins both stateside and in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Her funeral service will be held at The Congregational Church of Naugatuck, 9 Division St. on Friday at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is in charge of the arrangements.
At Corienne’s request, memorial contributions may be made to The Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT. 06111-1527.
