Obituary: Clayton M. Baummer

PROSPECT — Clayton M. Baummer, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Baummer was born on June 10, 1933 in Waterbury a son of the late Charles J. Baummer and Mildred (Moore) Baummer. He was retired from Equifax Co. where he worked as an insurance investigator for many years. He was a Naugatuck High School graduate, Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean conflict aboard the USS James E. Keyes in the 7th fleet in the Pacific. He joined the active reserve of the U.S. Air Force in 1972 and served until 1992 with the rank of master sergeant. He was a lifetime member of the Prospect VFW Post 8075 and a past commander and quarter master.

He is survived by four daughters, Karen Solosky and her husband Stephen of Killingworth, Jo Ann Baummer and Tracy Lucisano both of Naugatuck and Catherine Fitzgerald of Prospect; one son, Kevin C. Baummer and his fiancée Nancy Warner of Prospect; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Baummer and Shirley Baummer.

He was predeceased by one sister, Ruth Hubyk and two brothers, Leroy and Charles.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Anthony’s Church for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
