Obituary: Catherine Bartelli

BLOOMFIELD-Catherine Bartelli, 96, died Friday, December 10, 2010. She was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck.

Catherine was married for 51 years to the late Olympie (Bart) Bartelli, retired Asst. Chief of the Naugatuck Fire Dept. She was a homemaker and a long-time employee of Peter Paul Cadbury.

Catherine was active in the St. Mary’s Altar Society, was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain. She loved to dance with her beloved Bart and was always the “Belle” of the Fireman’s Ball. She was enormously proud of her Italian Heritage.

Catherine was pre-deceased by her daughter, Carol A. Hurley. She is survived by two grandchildren, Jesse H. Hurley of Brookline, MA and Erin K. Hurley of Atlanta, GA and her son-in-law, Robert J. Hurley of Cotuit, MA, Barnard, VT and Stuart, FL. Catherine was the youngest of thirteen children and is Aunt “Toots” to legions of nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Main St, Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck are in charge of arrangements.
