SEYMOUR — Carol (Benoit) Hale, 81, the widow of William “Bud” Hale, died peacefully on Jan. 24, 2021, at her home.

Carol was born on Dec. 18, 1939, in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Herbert and Edna (Weaver) Benoit. Carol was raised in Wolcott, attended Wilby High School and was a former Naugatuck resident. Carol was a devout catholic who would never miss the televised Mass. A younger Carol was a talented seamstress making clothes as a hobby, while later in life she enjoyed listening to her record collection from days of old and visiting with her children and grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her sons, Jeffery Hale of Naugatuck and Douglas Hale (Carrie Hale) of Naugatuck; her daughter, Paige (Hale) Bennett (Thomas Bennett) of Seymour; her grandchildren, Shelby Hale, Shannon Hale, Brendan Hale, Brody Hale, Grant Hale, Gretchen Hale and Haley Bennett; her great-grandchildren, Raelyn Roper and Nolan Hale; her sister, Bernice Kelley of Port Charlotte, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver, Lilly West. In addition to her husband and her parents, Carol was predeceased by her sister, Barbara (Benoit) Schaefer; her brother, Larry Benoit; and her brothers-in-law, George Kelley and William Schaefer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. A calling hour will be Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Everyone attending is required to wear a facial covering and to adhere to social distancing requirements.
