NAUGATUCK — Belmira Madaleno Valente, 74, died peacefully on Feb. 17, 2021, at Yale New Haven Hospital with her daughters by her side. She was the wife of the late Carmino Valente for 30 years.

Belmira was born on August 3, 1946, in Setubal, Portugal, a daughter of the late Agostinho Madaleno and Emilia Fonseca Madaleno. Belmira lived in Naugatuck, where she participated in the Naugatuck Woman’s Club as well as the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Clube Uniao Portuguesa. Belmira was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she was a member of Senhoras do Rosiaro. Belmira worked at the Naugatuck Glass Company for over 25 years.

Belmira is survived by her daughter, Carmina Valente of Windham; and her daughter and son-in-law, Alcina and Edward Fronczek of Franklin; her beloved granddaughter, Monica Fronczek of Franklin; and her sister, Maria Joana Basto of Braga, Portugal.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Everyone is asked to please meet at church and to wear a facial covering and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Burial will be in Portugal. There are no calling hours, and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
