SHELTON — Mrs. Barbara L. “Barb” (Clark)( Marxo) Powell, 47, of Shelton, passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 18, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was the wife of the late Christopher Powell. They were married Oct. 30, 2010
Barb was born in Derby, a daughter of the late Albert R. and Catherine Clark and had been a resident of Shelton for the past four months formerly living in Ansonia. She had formerly been employed by Big Y supermarkets and had a career as a professional bartender, having worked at the Dutch Front Café and Peggy Fenn’s both in Naugatuck and most recently the Brooklyn Café in Waterbury.
Barb is survived by her children; two sons, Travis J. Marxo and his wife Charlotte and Micheil A. Marxo and his companion Ashley Groves all of Milford; a daughter Valerie L. Shults and her husband Ross of Kittery, Maine; one brother, Charles Clark, Sr. and his wife Sharon of Milford, Mass.; three grandchildren, Billy Hughey, IV, Dashiell Marxo and Rodney Shults.
She was predeceased by a brother, James Clark, Sr.
Joint funeral services for Barb and Chris will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. (Route 63). Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, 219 New Haven Ave. (Route 34), Derby. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday Dec. 22, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
