Obituary: Antonio Latina

NAUGATUCK — Antonio (Tony) Latina, 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Gloria (Spadola) Latina.

Tony was born on Jan. 16, 1922 in Hartford a son of the late Ralph and Theresa (Failla) Latina. At an early age he moved to Wolcott and was educated in a one room schoolhouse in Wolcott and lived there until moving to Naugatuck in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and went to Great Lakes Naval Station for training. He was an Aircraft Naval Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class and served in World War II from Oct. 28, 1942 to Jan. 18, 1946. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and belonged to several bowling leagues.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Snyder and her husband Ronald of Naugatuck; one brother, Frank Latina of Wolcott; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 50 years he is predeceased by three sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
