Anthony Atkinson Jr.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Anthony Atkinson Jr., 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at home.

Affectionately called “Little Anthony,” Anthony was born in Connecticut on Feb. 24, 1986.

Anthony was an amazing blend of athletic prowess and mental/academic strength. In 2000, Yale
University’s Youth Day Committee presented him with the Scholar Athlete Award. Football was a big part of Anthony’s childhood. He played many key roles in winning football games for
Naugatuck High School and Sacred Heart. Countless times you could find Anthony Atkinson Jr. written up in the newspaper for some awesome feat on the football field.

After high school, he went on to attend the University of Connecticut and then transferred to Boston College where he studied sports management. After Anthony’s college career, he moved on to New York to be with those he loved more than anything — his parents.

Anthony will continue to stay with us all through memories and the laughs we shared with him. We will remember his infectious laugh, love of football, devotion to his parents, loyalty to family, enjoyment of good food, and the little kid who just loved to have fun.

Anthony will truly be missed. He leaves behind his mother and father, Gloria and Anthony
Atkinson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two loving grandmothers, Dorothy Atkinson of Greenville, N.C., and Patricia Bula of Naugatuck, Conn.; one great-grandmother, Bernice Beason of Virginia Beach, Va.; his siblings, Latoya Morris (Joemel Morris), Aireaus Atkinson, Akaysha Atkinson, and Atlanta Atkinson; two aunts, Prycilla Martin (Robert Martin) and Cheryl Jackson (Kelvin Jackson); and two nephews, Ty Arrington and Josiah Morris. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Jesse F. Atkinson. Anthony is also survived by a loving host of great aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial will be held for Anthony at a later date.
