ELLINGTON — Mrs. Ann (Kazlauskas) Ruszczyk, 87, of Ellington, formerly of Mulberry Street, Naugatuck, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. She was the widow of Stanley J. Ruszczyk, Sr.

Mrs. Ruszczyk was born in Vistytis, Lithuania on Aug. 10, 1925, a daughter of the late Viktoras and Ona (Chelkis) Kazlauskas. She was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck before moving to Ellington five years ago. She retired after 38 years of service from the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. She also worked for Naugatuck Glass Co., Selectro Inc. and Dansk International Designs in Beacon Falls. Through her generosity, she sponsored a family in Lithuania since 1999. She was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church.

She leaves her sons, Victor Kazlauskas and his wife Kalyn of Pageland, S.C., Stanley J. Ruszczyk, Jr. and his wife Kathryn of Ellington with whom she made her home; her brother, Raymond Kazlauskas of West Haven; her grandchildren, Michelle Evon, Jason Kazlauskas, and “her little miracle” Tristan Ruszczyk; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Anastasia Juskevicius, Al, Joe, and Vitas Kazlauskas.

The family would like to thank Ann’s physicians and nurses at Hartford Hospital, especially Drs. Troy and Pope, and the nurses of the emergency department, Bliss 5 East, and Conklin Building 2nd Floor for their outstanding care and compassion.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck to St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Naugatuck for a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
