Ann A. (Daversa) Miele

WATERBURY — Mrs. Ann A. (Daversa) Miele, 82, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at Saint Mary’s Hospital VITAS unit. She was the devoted wife of Nicholas C. Miele.

Mrs. Miele was born on April 11, 1930, in Waterbury, daughter of the late James and Florence (Rocco) Daversa. She was a Wilby High School graduate, Class of 1948 and worked, for over 25 years, as a lead person for Timex and later Allied Signal Bendix until her retirement in 1993. She was a parishioner of both St. Lucy’s and Our Lady of Lourdes Churches. She enjoyed volunteering her time by crocheting blankets for babies born at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was devoted to her family and was happiest when spending time with her grandsons and great-grandson.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Nick, Ann is survived by her son, Richard M. Miele and his wife, PattiAnn of Oakville; her daughters, Virginia M. Greco and her husband, John of Bethlehem and Sharon A. Costa and her husband, J. Allan of Prospect; her grandsons, Jeffrey Miele, Thomas Miele and his wife Val, Jeremy Greco, Matthew Costa and Michael Costa and her great-grandson, Lucas Miele. She also leaves her brother, Peter J. Daversa and his companion, Evie of Waterbury; her sister, Theresa Miele of Waterbury; her brother-in-law, John DeVito, and her sisters-in-law, Ann “Nellie” Macary and Lucy Donofrio, both of Waterbury as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ann was predeceased by her sister, Mary DeVito and her brothers-in-law, Frank Miele, James Macary and Frank Donofrio.

The Miele family would like to thank the VNA Hope Team as well as the Saint Mary’s VITAS staff for the outstanding and compassionate care shown to Ann and her family.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at 9 a.m. from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury, to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
