NAUGATUCK — Ana T. Lopes, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Manuel M. Lopes.
Mrs. Lopes was born on March 13, 1927 in Murtosa, Portugal a daughter of the late Antonio Tomas and Ana Tavares. She was retired from Uniroyal Footwear in 1979 where she worked as an inspector for many years. She was a long time member of Clube Uniao Portuguesa, a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She loved flowers, gardening and cooking for her family
She is survived by one daughter, Leonor L. Sabino and her husband John of New Fairfield; one son, Manny J. Lopes and his wife Maryann of Southington; her four grandchildren, Melissa A. Piccolo and her husband David, Matthew J. Lopes, Capt. Jennifer M. Sabino, MD, Jonathan M. Sabino, and two great-granddaughters, Isabella and Sophia Piccolo and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
