Obituary: Albin J. Drost

NEW MILFORD — Mr. Albin J. Drost, 89, of New Milford, formerly of Beacon Falls, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford. He was the widower of Henrietta J. (Kremski) Drost.

Mr. Drost was born in New Britain on Oct. 15, 1922, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Siroka) Drost. He was a Beacon Falls resident for 62 years and retired after 35 years of service from the Bristol Company. He served in the U.S. Army with the 28th Division during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church and loved spending time with his family.

He leaves his children, Patricia Sullivan and her husband Thomas Sullivan of Middletown, Marianne Drost of Greenwich, Albin Drost and his wife Catherine Drost of Hampton Cove, Ala., Elizabeth Drost and her husband Glenn Macklin of Wyncote, Pa., and Dr. Paul Drost and his wife Dr. Wendy Drost of New Milford; grandchildren, Megan Sullivan and her husband Cory Skolnick, Travis Drost, Alix and Sloane Macklin, and Michael, Ryan, and Carly Drost; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Cate Skolnick; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck on Thursday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple St., Beacon Falls. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
