Obituary: Albert William ‘Robbie’ Robinson

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Mr. Albert William “Robbie” Robinson, 89, passed away on Nov. 8, in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was originally from Naugatuck.

Albert was born on Aug. 10, 1922 in New Rochelle, N.Y. a son of the late Albert Frederick and Alice (O’Leary) Robinson. He graduated form St. Francis School and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School class of ’40. He enrolled at the University of Connecticut before joining the U. S. Air Force in 1941 where he became a flight instructor. He catered the food for the Naugatuck Chemical and Synthetic Companies. He and his wife ran a successful restaurant called “Robinsons,” which was located on Church Street in Naugatuck. It was destroyed in the flood of 1955. He worked in advertising for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Elks Club and the American Legion for many years.

He leaves his ex-wife, Frieda Baldridge; four sons, Charles Robinson of Houston, Texas, Alert (Ric) Robinson of Kentucky, Bryan and Michael Robinson both of Texas; one sister, Patricia Natowich of Naugatuck and one brother, Barrie Robinson of N. C. He is also survived by several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will take place in Texas.
