Albert Joseph Hyde

PROSPECT — Mr. Albert Joseph Hyde, 71, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at the VITAS Hospice Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband for 46 years of Grace (Washer) Hyde.

Mr. Hyde was born in New London on May 14, 1941 a son of the late K. Merle and Jeanette (Evon) Hyde. He was raised in Naugatuck and was retired from the Uniroyal Inc. Chemical Division in Naugatuck where he served as a union steward for with the United Steel Workers Union. He also enjoyed volunteering as a coach for Naugatuck YMCA Little Pal basketball and in his free time taking higher education courses. Mr. Hyde served honorably and proudly in the U.S. Navy.

Besides his wife, Mr. Hyde is survived by a daughter, Gina Desmond and her husband Michael of Prospect; his beloved granddaughter, Lily Desmond of Prospect; his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Robert Evon Sr. of Naugatuck; many cousins and his animal companion Magic.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Alexandria Clouse-Desmond.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. There are no calling hours. Burial with full military honors will be held at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck on Saturday June 2, 2012 at 11 a.m.
