Margo Mazzadra Scott

NAUGATUCK — Margo Mazzadra Scott, “Honey,” passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. Born on May 25, 1930, from Stratford, she was the daughter of the late Helen (DiBiase) and William Mazzadra. She married her high school sweetheart graduating from Stratford High School in 1948, the late William F. Scott Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shelley Scott Geriak of Branford and Cathy (Kevin) DelVecchio of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Barbara Sirois of Huntington; six grandchildren, Keith Geriak (Branford), Jill (Ed) Burke (Salem, Ma.), Ashley (Jon) LeFebvre, Tony DelVecchio (both of Naugatuck) Allison Roman (Melbourne, Fla.) and Cori (Spencer) Perna (Seneca, S.C.); and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, William (Billy) Scott III; daughter-in-law, Kathleen (McGrath) Scott; and brother-in-law, Howard Sirois.

Margo was a long-time resident of Shelton, before moving to Northfield, and then to Naugatuck. She pursued a career in personal management after receiving an associate’s degree from Sacred Heart University. She worked as a personnel manager for Penn Keystone for a time and also was employed with Hartford Insurance Company. She then worked for American Greetings for 22 years.

Margo was known for her positive outlook on life and her generous and energetic spirit. She had an artistic passion for her oil paintings and later on worked at the metaphysical center in Watertown, practicing therapeutic touch, crystal readings and teaching crystal classes. She and her husband were members of the American Breeders Association. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States, entering their satin rabbits in competitions and winning trophies. In 1991, their white satin rabbit won best White Satin in the United States. Margo was author of “A Village to Remember,” a walking tour booklet of Northfield. It is included in a time capsule buried in front of Litchfield Town Hall.

Visitation for Mrs. Scott will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Vincent Ferrer Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
