Born in New York, N.Y., on March 10, 1934, Mike was a son of the late Savino and Anna (Mundo) Muggeo. He was raised in New York and joined the U.S. Marine Corps while still in high school, serving four years for his country. In 1952, Mike married Barbara LeMoine, his childhood friend and sweetheart, and moved to Connecticut where they started their family.
Mike became a New Haven police officer and soon thereafter he joined the Connecticut State Police. From 1961 to 1968, Mike served as the first Resident State Trooper in Beacon Falls.
From 1969 through 1983, he was assigned to the Litchfield Troop L State Police Barracks, retiring as a sergeant detective.
In 1980, he attained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree from the University of New Haven. After retiring from the state police, Mike worked for NE Utilities in corporate security and subsequently returned to work for the state of Connecticut, performing background checks for Superior Court judicial nominees.
Mike loved the outdoors and was proud to have purchased a portion of the Buckingham Farm in Beacon Falls, where he tended to his land, including a one-acre garden. He and Barbara also enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Charlestown, R.I., where the door was always open to family and friends.
Mike’s spirit was motivated by love of family. He spent his entire life working for the betterment of his children’s lives and nothing gave him greater pride and happiness than his children’s accomplishments. He was smart, honest and caring, and knew that family was all that mattered.
