WATERBURY — Mary E. (Murphy) Sheehy, 88, widow of Paul F. “Duke” Sheehy, died peacefully on April 17, 2022 at her home.
Mary was born Jan. 14, 1934 in Boston, Mass., daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Harrington) Murphy. Mary lived in Waterbury with her daughter Gail for the past 14 years, having lived most of her life in Naugatuck. Mary retired from Uniroyal, Inc., and was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Diane Pereira and her husband, Manny Pereira, of Watertown and Gail Sheehy of Waterbury; her son, Paul Sheehy and his wife, Roz Sheehy, of Naugatuck; her two grandchildren, Dan Pereira and Jessica O’Rourke; her great-grandson, Colin Bates; her sister and best friend, Anna Duarte of Boston, Mass.; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Sheehy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mary was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kara Cochrane.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours were at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
