BETHANY — Maria Anne Dietrich Durley, 80, passed away quietly on Saturday, July 1, 2023, with her loving husband, and loved ones by her side.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1942, in Washington, D.C., and was predeceased by her mother Anne R. Stotz in 2011, and her stepfather Ralph L. Stotz in 1974.

Besides her loving husband of 58 years, Harold “Rocky” Durley, she leaves three children and their significant others; her four grandchildren and their significant others; and her great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her younger sister Maureen A. Murry (Mo) and her family from Garden Grove, Calif., to mourn her passing.

Maria was a 1960 graduate of Naugatuck High School and received her LPN nursing license from Yale New Haven School of Nursing. As a resident of Bethany and a LPN, she volunteered her time with the Bethany Volunteer Ambulance Corps for many years.

Maria was also a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Over her many years of service, she had many offices both locally and within the Grand Chapter.

She was an avid book reader and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. New babies would always receive a blanket, cap, and booties. Her handmade gifts will surely be missed and cherished for many generations to come.

The Durley family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Saint Mary’s Hospital for their care and support.

At the request of the family all services were to be private.

The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org/donate); or to the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, 765 Amity Road, Bethany, CT 06524; or to the Eastern Star Charity Foundation, P.O.
