WOLCOTT -Mrs. Lois V. (Bickford) Litke, age: 87, of Beach Road, formerly of Naugatuck, passed away on Tuesday November 23, 2010 at Wolcott View Manor after a long illness. She was widow of Elmer R. Litke.
Mrs. Litke was born in Norton, New Bruswick, Canada on April 25, 1923, daughter of the late Edgar and Hazel (Lewis) Bickford. She had lived most of her life in Naugatuck, and she retired from Sperry Automatics after many years of service. Lois had also worked at JC Richardson Company and the Bristol Company. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Naugatuck and a member of the Beacon Valley Grange for over 70 years. Lois enjoyed wintering in Myrtle Beach with her companion of seven years, Edward Rostowsky, until his death in 2005.
She leaves:1 son: Ronald G. Litke and his wife Charlotte of Naugatuck, 1 daughter: Donna L. Rice and her husband Geoffrey of Wolcott, 1 step daughter: Barbara Paonessa of Marlow, NH, 1 brother; Ronald Bickford of Passadumkeug, Maine, 5 grandchildren: Joyce Eldridge, Ronald and Brian Litke, Justin and Jennifer Rice, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 12PM at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 11AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
