CORNELIA, Ga. — Francis Arthur “Fran” Aurora, age 83, of Cornelia, Ga., formerly of Naugatuck and Waterbury, Conn., passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, following a period of declining health.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 5, 1939, he was the son of the late Frank Carl and Anna Victorine Triano Aurora. Fran was a veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Raytheon Co. with more than 20 years of dedicated service.
Before moving to Georgia, Fran and his family lived in Connecticut and Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Fran was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Ann Hemingway Aurora of Cornelia, Ga.; children, Chris and Teri Aurora of Clarkesville, Ga., Vicky English of Tampa, Fla., Gary and Tina Aurora of Littleton, Colo.; sister, Marilyn Ferry of Thomaston; grandchildren, Alex English, Garrett Aurora, Emily Aurora and Julia Aurora; other relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. today at St. Mark Catholic Church in Clarkesville, Ga. Inurnment will follow in the Hillside Gardens Cemetery.
