PROSPECT — Eugene T. Jannetty Sr., 79, of Prospect, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Care Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, surrounded by the love of his wife Patricia (Rabis) and son Gino.

Gene was a graduate of Wilby High School and Hartford Regional Technical School. He was a barber for many years before opening his own business, Jannetty Electrical & Heating, with Gino. He also worked at the Mitchell-Bate Co. as a fabricator and welder.

He met the love of his life, Patricia, when they were just 16 and together they shared 59 beautiful years of marriage. Gene was a die-hard UConn women’s basketball fan and enjoyed watching old westerns and reading in his spare time.

He was very active even up until his last days. He loved spending time outdoors and being in the warmth of the sun. You could find Gene in his backyard splitting firewood, landscaping, or puttering in his garden, planting blueberries, fruits, and vegetables.

He was also an avid fisherman and would often spend the day at the Housatonic River enjoying the solitude and waiting for that next big catch.

Gene is survived by his wife Patricia and his son Eugene “Gino” Jannetty Jr., both of Prospect; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa M. Jannetty.

Gene’s family would like to thank the hospice staff and chaplains at VITAS for all their compassionate care, as well as a heartfelt thanks to his loving niece Donna Patterson, and his treasured friends Ed Petro and Bill Camp.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was to be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Road in Prospect. Those attending were asked to meet directly at the church. Burial was to be at the convenience of his family.

Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Jannetty family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org, or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
